After enjoying six successful years in Whistler helping friends and clients in Whistler to maximize their real estate goals, now I am back from whence I came, Vancouver's Westside! Property values have steadily increased over the years in Whistler. 2003 saw a slight increase in values for single family homes and condos and a more noticeable increase in bare land values. Overall sales volumes decreased from 2002 statistics. At the moment sales are steady for well priced homes and prices are down some. There is an excellent selection of property available and it's a buyers market, for now. When pent up demand releases there are always many calls from people who just wished they would have acted back when. If you have been waiting to buy, now is a good time to negotiate a good deal. LISTING??? 60% of the annual sales volume happens in Sept/Oct . I have called several top Salt Lake City realtors re their pre and post Olympic experience and many of their answers are not at all what you would expect!!! Take into account what proportion of your investment is a component of your retirement fund.
Very strong four year market. New projects still selling strongly. The re-sale market has slowed which is normal at this time of year. Listings are building but you will still sell quickly if you are well priced and well marketed. CMHC senior economic analysts are on record as saying the market should be able to withstand a 2% hike in mortgage rates as there is continual demand coming to the marketplace, the economy is strong and at the start of an economic cycle rather than the end of one.
